I knew as soon as I saw this piece it had amazing potential, seeing the tiger oak grain on the drawer fronts I knew I couldn't cover with paint and envisaged a sunbaked white wash effect straight away. I thoroughly cleaned the piece and sanded back to the bare wood. I used White Magic Voodoo Gel Stain from Dixie Belle and wiped back to create the washed look. Once the stain was all dried, overnight, I used Grunge Grey & Black Best Dang Wax added to the corners to add shading. At some point some backing plates had been added to the drawer handles that were too big and covered the keyholes. So I used one of the designs from the Etruscan Accents Decor Mould by Redesign with Prima to create something more suitable. The hardware didn't clean up particularly well so I spray painted with Rustoleum Oil Rubbed Bronze (a spray paint i often use for hardware) and touched the highlights with White Gold Art Alchemy Wax.

I also couldn't resist adding some extra details using the Paris Valley transfer on all the drawer sides......i'm a sucker for a peekaboo detail.

I absolutely love how his piece turned out, and wanting to maintain the sunbaked look I used Flat Clear Coat to finish off and Howdy Do Hemp Oil on the legs (which are the only thing I didn't sand back) to nourish and enhance the original finish for some contrast.
